Kylee & James

Before I even picked up my camera, I knew this couple was going to be special. Not just because Kylee is a huge swiftie (though that definitely gives her bonus points), but because this love story is the real kind.

James and Kylee are high school sweethearts. The kind that started over a decade ago with hallway glances and secret phone calls (talking real slow, cause it was late and their mamas didn’t know).

The kind that grew up with each other, not just beside each other. The kind that has seen more than most couples twice their age- and stayed standing.

Kylee is breast cancer survivor.

That’s right. She’s already earned her right to a braid. And James? He walked through the battle with her. Somewhere between the doctor’s appointments and surgery, their love got stronger.

When they booked me for their wedding, I knew I didn’t just want to pose them.

I wanted to witness them.

There’s something beautiful about photographing a couple that’s already crashed through so many walls. There’s still so much love and laughter, even after finding out early what “in sickness and in health” really means.

This isn’t just the beginning to their love story. Its a milestone.

The end of a decade, but the start of a marriage.

These two fought a unfair fight and won.

I can’t wait to watch Kylee and James win again this August when Kylee becomes Mrs. Winslow.
